Election Information


The City of Placentia consolidates its regular elections with Statewide elections held on the first Tuesday in November of even-numbered years. The next General Municipal Election for the City of Placentia will take place on November 6, 2018 for the purpose of filling one (1) seat in District 2 and one (1) seat in District 4 on the City Council and one (1) City Clerk position, each for a full term of four (4) years.

Elections Official

The City Clerk is the local Elections Official and coordinates with the Orange County Registrar of Voters in conducting Municipal Elections. Duties of the Elections Official include preparation of necessary resolutions calling for General and Special Municipal Elections and declaring elections results; coordination of the candidate nomination process and receipt and processing of initiative, referendum and recall petitions.

How to Vote

To register to vote you must be:

  • A United States citizen
  • At least 18 years of age on or before the date of the next election
  • Not in prison or on parole for a felony conviction

To vote in an election you must be registered to vote at least 15 days prior to the election date. Voter registrations are filed by county; be sure to re-register every time you move, change your name, or change your political party choice.
