Conservation Tips
It is important that all residents make a conscientious effort to use our water as efficiently as possible. The following water conservation tips should be incorporated as positive lifestyle changes and could help save money on your water bill:
- Fix leaks in your home. A leaky faucet that drips 30 times per minute wastes 4.32 gallons per day, and 60 drips per minute wastes 8.64 gallons per day.
- Replace your old toilet. Older toilets use between 3.5 - 7 gallons of water per flush. High-efficiency toilets use 1.28 gallons per flush, with an average savings of 2.2 gallons every time you flush.
- Replace your old washing machine. Older washing machines use an average of 40.9 gallons of water per load. High-efficiency machines use an average of 24 gallons per load with an average savings of 16.9 gallons per load.
