History

Councilmember Rhonda Shader is honored to serve the great City of Placentia at this important time in our history. Councilmember Shader’s theme for her 2022 year as Mayor was “Placentia Clean and Kind.” This effort celebrates efforts by individuals to keep Placentia clean and recognizes people doing kind things for others. Councilmember Shader believes that kindness changes everything.

The fiscal sustainability of our City is Councilmember Shader’s highest priority. She believes public safety and infrastructure are job number one. She is most proud of being a part of the establishment of Policy No. 460 General Fund Reserve Policy where income into the City is prioritized and planned for based on our highest priorities for sustainability. 

Councilmember Shader was elected in 2016 and has professional experience in the areas of law, banking, mortgage banking, and risk management. She received her Bachelor of Management degree from the University of Phoenix and her Paralegal Degree from Rancho Santiago College. She graduated high school from nearby Buena Park High. 

Councilmember Shader represents the City on the following subcommittees: Finance and Investment Committee, Santa Ana River Flood Protection Agency (alternate), the Association of California Cities, Orange County, Housing and Community Development, Southern California Association of Governments (alternate), Cal Cities Government, Transparency and Labor Relations Policy Committee, Smart City Ad-Hoc, Housing, Community and Economic Development Ad Hoc, County of Orange City Selection Committee and Placentia Community Foundation.

Councilmember Shader also serves on the County of Orange Housing & Community Development Commission, St. Jude Medical Center Community Health Committee, and Southern California Edison Government Advisory Panel.

Councilmember Rhonda Shader has lived in Placentia with her husband Frank for over 20 years. They have two adult children that live in Southern California: Chantal Shader a graduate of Valencia High School and Point Loma Nazarene University, who is currently working for FedEx, and Zachary NewComer a graduate of Orange Lutheran High School of Orange County and Vanguard University, who is currently a CPA/Auditor at Withum LLP. Rhonda is an entrepreneur she owns an insurance agency in Placentia where she regularly employs 3-5 people, and she is a Life and Health Coach to individuals and corporate professionals.
