Placentia Youth Basketball (PYB)
We are back in action and hope your player will join us this season!!!
What is Placentia Youth Basketball?
PYB is a league that emphasizes the fundamentals of the game, teamwork, and FUN! It is a co-ed league designed for students who enjoy basketball and friendly competition. No formal basketball experience is necessary to participate. Games are played on Saturdays and some Fridays at Oberle Gym or Tynes Gym. Coaching is provided by fully background checked volunteers or city staff.
The $119 league fee includes 8 guaranteed indoor games, indoor practices, reversible jersey, and awards. Division "D" league fees are $50 a player. No extra league or uniform fees will be charged. Head coaches will receive one free player registration (fees will be refunded after the start of the season). Parents can purchase pictures for an additional fee if they wish to do so.

Registration Night October 22Come and sing your player up at Oberle Gym (Melrose Elementary School, 974 S. Melrose St. Placentia, 92870) from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.
Age Divisions PreK-8th Grade
This league is open to all players PreK through 8th grade. Each division focuses on age appropriate skill building techniques.
Division "D" PreK-Kindergarten
"D" division focuses on fun first and foremost. Dribbling, passing, and shooting skills are also taught.
Players in this division will play at either 9:00a.m. or 10:00a.m. starting December 4. Games/Practices will be as follows. The first half of the time players will practice skills as a group with our expert staff. The second half of the time the players will be divided up and scrimmage. Two parents "coach buddies" will need to volunteer to help with each scrimmage.
Division "C" 1st-3rd Grade
"C" division focuses on dribbling, passing, shooting, basic technique, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Division "B" 4th-5th Grade
"B" division also focuses on dribbling, passing, shooting, teamwork and sportsmanship. Children in this division will learn to polish their basketball skills, and will be introduced to basic plays and strategy.
Division "A" 6th-8th Grade
"A" division reinforces all of the skills from "C" and "B" divisions. Youth in this division will also be introduced to the offensive and defensive strategies used by Jr High and High School teams.
Skills Evaluations October 23, and 30Your child must attend one of the skills evaluations, except if they are in Division D PreK and Kindergarten. The skills evaluation times are as follows:
Division C 1st-3rd Grade 10:00am
Division B 4th and 5th Grade 11:30am
Division A 6th-8th Grade 1:00pm

Practices Start The Week of November 15Coaches will call the parents of players the week before to let them know when and where practice will be. There will be no practices the week of Thanksgiving. There will be no practices or games December 20th through January 2nd.
Games Start December 4All games will start on December 4 including Division D games.
